Let your curiosity wander

Did you notice how very few people own this beautiful trait of curiosity? The older we become, the less curious we get. The older we become, the fewer questions we ask.

Do you remember how you tormented your parents with questions? Why do I need to read? Why should I exercise? What is the sun? What is the sky? Sometimes, when they were annoyed with our questions, they would say something like: “Do not ask stupid questions.”, “The less you know, the better you sleep” and so on and so forth. And our young curiosity was beaten up by the harsh and angry adults who were tired of answering these questions.

This is the first reason why people become deaf to the voice of curiosity.

The second reason is the fear of failure.

What will happen if I eat 3000 calories? How will I feel after eating so much? Nah, I shouldn’t do it. I will become fat. I’m scared of being fat and trying new things. What will happen if I will not eat at all today? How will I feel? Nah, I will not do it. It’s painful and useless. Why should I do that?

We silence the voice of curiosity over and over. After some time, we just don’t hear it. Our minds got used to silencing this voice and we do not want to change anything.

However, if you do want to change, then here’s my advice about bringing back the ability to hear curiosity:

Start with questions and observe.

What will happen if I run the first mile faster than usual? What will happen if I do 20 push-ups today? What will happen if I write a book in 30 days? Make a commitment and observe.

It’s going to be hard at first but then things start truly to change.

Curiosity is a true wonder. It can do great things and move you forward.

Hear the voice of curiosity and you will be in shock to see how great you truly are.

Thanks for reading.
